Hello Dolly Bars - Treats for your May long weekend!
YASSSSS the long weekend is here!!! Hello May 2-4 2017 :) So. I wanted to make a treat that I could bring along with me on my long weekend adventures and thought I'd make a batch of Hello Dolly bars or "Magic bars". These are a great dessert/snack to make if you have a lot of half-used bags of baking goods like chocolate chips, shredded coconut, graham cracker crumbs, etc. And not to mention they are a crowd favourite! Who doesn't love the taste of melty chocolate and coconut with condensed milk?!?!
So I kinda improvised with the toppings with this batch based on what I wanted to use up in my cupboard :) The magic ingredient is definitely the condensed milk, that stuff makes anything taste good!!! Feel free to do the same if you give these a try, there are no limits with these yummy squares!
Recipe is below, check it out and let me know what you think :) && Cheers to the freakin weekend, hope y'all have a good one!
Dark chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, almonds, pecans, coconut!
I like these squares served at room temperature, but they keep very well in the fridge. If you want to refrigerate them before serving, just take them out an hour or two before to let them get back to room temp.
I had lots of fun stacking these squares again lol my boyfriend was making fun of me >:(
Hello Dolly Bars
Serves 28
1 C butter, melted
3 C graham cracker crumbs
1 C dark chocolate chips
1 1/3 C butterscotch chips
1/2 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 C chopped pecans
1 C sliced almonds
2.5 C shredded coconut
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix the melted butter and graham cracker crumbs until combined. Press the graham cracker mixture into the bottom of a 9 by 13 inch baking pan, spread evenly with your fingers.
2. Sprinkle the dark chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips over the crust, coating evenly. Next sprinkle the pecans and almonds over the chocolate chips. Then top with the shredded coconut, covering the pan evenly.
3. Next, drizzle the can of condensed milk over the top and that's it!
4. Bake for 30 minutes and once done, cool on a cooling rack. Once cooled, cut into 28 squares. Serve at room temperature when the oozy chocolate and condensed milk are at their best! Serve, devour and enjoy!! P.s. These squares keep in your fridge for about 5 days, just cover with plastic wrap or in an air-tight container so you can enjoy these throughout the week!
